Her journey to the operatic stage—as a classically trained soprano—is as rich and distinctive as the voice that brought her there. Raised in a musically vibrant home, she spent her childhood immersed in the glamour of 1950s MGM musicals, staging living room performances long before she ever set foot on a stage. Though she began her professional life as a computer programmer, her passion for music never faded—ultimately leading her back to the world where she felt most at home: the stage.
She made her opera debut as Prima Donna and Ariadne in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos in Toronto, where her voice was noted for its warmth, clarity, and expressive depth. Since then, she has appeared across Europe, including a featured performance at Romania’s Academia Sighișoara Festival to inaugurate a recital hall honoring composer Dinu Lipatti, and the world premiere of a new work composed for her by Finnish composer Ari Romppanen at the Joensuu Music Festival. Whether interpreting classic repertoire or bringing new music to life, Ghislaine approaches her work with a balance of precision, creativity, and heartfelt storytelling.
Dalton Baldwin, the world renowned pianist, affectionately referred to her as “the girl with the golden throat”—a reflection of the natural beauty and sincerity she brings to her sound. Colleagues and collaborators appreciate not only her musical excellence, but also her warmth, reliability, and spirit of genuine connection.
In addition to her performing work, Ghislaine dedicates time to teaching, guided by the belief that every voice matters and that the arts are for everyone. Her work—on stage and off—is grounded in the conviction that music has the power to inspire, uplift, and bring us closer to ourselves and each other.
